As you probably know, my name is Allison. I live in Florida with my dog and cat. I started No Star Designs in December of 2009. I am happy to say that this has probably been the best thing I have done for myself. This has helped me through some dark times and still helps me to this day.
In November of 2009, I lost my husband. Michael was a Marine and we made it through two year long combat deployments. He came home safely from his last deployment, only to be killed almost a year later while going to work. He was on his motorcycle and an 81 year old man hit him, killing him instantly. From this day forward my life has been turned upside down. I am slowly but surely, putting one foot in front of the other, bringing my past with me to the future.
I mainly specialize in women's accessories. I actually started making my own flower hair clips way before anything bad happened. I couldn't find anything I liked for the right price, so I figured I would make my own. The wallets and handbags came later, as I said, in December of 2009. I again, started decorating a wallet for myself, I loved doing it so much, I started making more to give away for Christmas. I didn't want to stop there, so I made more. I knew about etsy long before No Star Designs ever existed, so when I got to that point, I decided to open up my store. No Star Designs did not really pick up until March of 2010.
I make wallets, handbags, purses, belts, hair accessories, cell phone cases, passport covers, and even men's wallets. I would like to expand to journals someday too, but we will see. In three words I can describe No Star Designs as vintage-inspired, upcycled, with a modern twist (ok, maybe a little more than 3 words). Everything, I mean everything, is one of a kind (ooak), you will never find two pieces the same.
